Modelling Auditions

The modelling world is quite cut throat. Contrary to popular belief, most models are not just "discovered" walking down the street. You have to put in a lot of hard work to finally be recognized by one person. Auditions are stepping stone to most modelling careers. If you know how to conduct yourself with etiquette and dignity on your modelling audition, then you have taken the first step in launching your career. The following guide should help increase your chances at nailing every audition you attend.
The first thing every aspiring model should adhere to is the call time. You should never be late for your audition. Modelling auditions tend to have many coordinators involved. You will have to see a hairstylist to do your hair and get into wardrobe if the casting directors want you to audition in their own choice of clothes. If you are late, you make all these other people late. This offsets a bad impression from the moment you go in for the audition. So make sure you find out what time they expect you to arrive. You should then be at the venue half an hour before your expected call time. This will give you some extra time in case of any unforeseen eventualities. The second thing you should adhere to is being pleasant to everyone. Nobody cares if you are having a bad day or not. They are there doing their job and you are there looking for an opportunity to get into the modelling industry. Make conversation with the stylist and makeup artists. You may eve learn a few tips and tricks from them that could help you along in your career. Remember that the photographer and the director are the most important people at a modelling audition. Follow their instructions to the letter if you want your pictures to be perfect. Never question the direction they are taking unless they want you to pose nude! This then will be a personal choice and you have to make yourself clear about it before your audition begins.
Whether or not you have been asked to carry a change of clothes, make sure you do. A set of five different outfits should be sufficient. Moreover, your clothes will always look better on you. You never know if the sizes they have will fit you perfectly so it would not be wrong to have some of your clothes just to be on the safe side. Do not arrive with any makeup on unless they have specifically directed you to. Most casting directors want to see you fresh faced before they apply makeup on you. However, you can carry your own foundation and concealer, as these will match your complexion perfectly in case the makeup artist does not have them in your colour.
Lastly, make sure you look kempt and clean. Do not show up for your audition hung-over or badly dressed. Your hair should be neat, your body clean, and your clothes attractive. Do not overdress though!
